Once upon a time… so goes an Oriental tale… there was a fish who fell in love with a bird, and the bird fell in love with the fish. They had the best of times, and it flowed past like flight. Then the fish said to the bird, and the bird to the fish: let us build a nest! Where and how could that ever be…

And this is us – Weingut Fisch und Vogel:
Marion Vera Forster and Alexander Reza Tavakoli.

It so happened that our ways of seeing are rooted in all directions of the compass. Between East and West, in literature and in architecture. We understand ourselves as world travellers, in one and the same place — Mörbisch am See. Shoulder to shoulder, with two pairs of double eyes, our gaze guided by nature in one direction. Since 2021 this winery has been our shared work.

Inspired by the thought experiment of a marriage of wild opposites – and by the animals in the village coat of arms of Mörbisch on the western shore of Lake Neusiedl – our name stands for a lived respect within a shared habitat. It characterises our perspective in this world: here, you are either fish or bird, and between them the horizon – to be drawn anew together each day, like the word that connects us.
